simply perfect for winding down at the end of a busy day!

From the author of the best-selling Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones, this is another excellent and suitably appropriate night-time title for little ones!
Although in my experience, it also offers super scope for extension exercises with older children who are invariably captivated by the simple but superbly atmospheric illustrations, which perfectly capture the appropriate habitats.

From the back cover:-

'Look, little child, as the night is unfurled,
Animals going to bed round the world.

As the sun slowly fades and the soft, silver moon rises, the baby animals are snuggling down to sleep while their mummies watch over them........'

Durable board covers open to 26 high quality pages in the popular 2-page spread format. Some editions have a dust-jacket, and cover pictures can vary. This review is for the Little Tiger Press edition/2007.

Example of text:-

The first two opening lines are in italics, as are the closing ones, at the end of the book, gently summarising the point.

'Look, little child,
as the night is unfurled,
Animals going to bed
round the world.

Close to her mother,
safe by her side,
Sweet little fawn
is so sleepy-eyed.

Nestled in grass
as the soft breezes blow,
Bathed by the warmth
of the sun's evening glow....'

Closing lines:-

'Small panda sleeps
as the stars peek-a-boo.
Held by his mother,
all the night through.

Cuddled up close,
she gives him a kiss.
Tucked up together,
they're perfect like this.'

Italicised lines:-

'Sleep, child, like the animals,
in the starlight.
I love you, sleepyhead,
sweet dreams - goodnight.'

In between, two verses for each animal as they nestle down safe alongside their Mummy, and the sun says goodbye for the day!

Lovely book, with sweet words and lovely illustrations.
One thing to bear in mind, the animals only seem to have mums, no mentions at all of dads.

A beautiful, endearing story written in rhyme, with soft and whimsical illustrations. The reader is encouraged to read softly by the gentle flow of text, lulling their sleepyhead to sleep. A fantastic bedtime read, highly recommended.

Fantastic book absolutely love it and so does my son. Box was way too big for the 2 books I ordered but they arrived safe which is the main thing. Love the rhyming verses and gorgeous pictures. A great hit.

This is just the most charming children's book and an ideal bedtime story. It is a beautifully written and wonderfully illustrated tale of baby animals cuddling up to sleep and is just perfect for bedtime.

An unforgettable classic which will be treasured in our collection

A replacement for one that got badly ripped, still a firm favourite. Lovely pictures of the animals.
