5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality
The quality of the maps and town plans in this atlas is first class bearing in mind it is using maps from the 1850s.
It complements Bradshaw's Handbook perfectly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
The first disappointment: no index. After that you have to troll through to find the old lines but as there are no contours, etc. the maps are rather bland.

I bought this as a gift for someone who already had a Bradshaw's Railway Guide. It's the perfect companion book.

This volume is well produced and invaluable for the raiway historian. It is worth buying for the maps alone but also contains a treasure trove of extra town plans and illustrations. Highly recommended.

I bought this as a present for my husband's birthday. It is lovely. Apart from the maps the colour plates give atmosphere to the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars showing our great British heritage, 4 Feb 2013
Really interesting, if you liked the Michael Portillo TV series you will love this. The level of detail is really impressive, addictive for the history enthusiast.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bradshaws Railway Maps, 14 Mar 2013
This review is from: Bradshaws Railway Atlas - Great Britain and Ireland (Armchair Time Travellers Railway Atlas) (Paperback)
I should have looked at a copy of the book first as it wasn't quite what I was expecting, or perhaps I was expecting too much? I could therefore quite happily hand/sell it on to someone else.

I've been in trouble for "loosing" time lost in the pages of this book! It's clearly a labour of love. The details are fascinating and give perspective to railway history.
