5.0 out of 5 stars In depth and modern, 2 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Revelation (Tyndale New Testament Commentaries) (Paperback)
In depth and modern commentary that uses up to date exegetic analysis to present a full review of Revelation.
Delivered at a depth that provides enough knowledge with out saturating the subject and you don't need to know Greek as word analysis is stated.
Would definitely recommend to all serious studies of the Bible.

Like the rest of the Tyndale series this is a great buy at the price. Morris gives a clear outline of Revelation and the major approaches to it before taking us through verse by verse. There isn't the detail you would find in some of the more expensive hard back commentaries (such as Beale) but if you're looking for an initial skirmish with this fascinating end to the Bible then this is a good place to start.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good starter commentary on Revelation, 20 Sep 2011

This review is from: Revelation (Tyndale New Testament Commentaries) (Paperback)
Firstly, I regard the Tyndale set of commentaries to be excellent for the Christian layman.

I have the second (1987) edition on Revelation. As usual Leon Morris has given us a competent commentary. He correctly focuses on the Church rather than Israel, e.g. the 144,000 and the Two Witnesses. He is amillennial on chapter 20. The book is rather dated in the light of the many excellent commentaries published since 1987; however it will still serve as a good starter on Revelation.

Other starter commentaries would be Koester Revelation and the End of All Things_ and Hendriksen More Than Conquerors.
