Some helpful things, some can be improved (A2 level student)
on 13 February 2015
As an A level student, I bought this book to prepare for my interviews. In this respect it is very helpful, with examples of possible questions and also topics you should know about. However there are a few things I have disagreed with too! The first is that it suggests it is a good idea for parents to ring up work experience placements, this is a big no no, as a potential vet ought to have the confidence to ring up places themselves, and placements will be put off if the parent rings up. Another thing is the work experience section that implies just a couple of days work experience at different vets practices will be fine, but actually Liverpool want a minimum of 4 weeks just at vets! It also does not mention Surrey but they have just had their first year in, and the next edition of this book is due to come out so that will probably include this information. Despite finding a few things wrong, I am still glad I bought it although it is no substitute for going to uni open days and looking at prospectuses.
