For those of you fed up with those arty farty books that speak of capturing the whims of the elements and being spoken to by the ether of life this is the book for you!

This book is like meeting up with Glyn and having a chat over a bit of driftwood with a handful of acrylics and a cup of coffee. Gone is the advice to buy the best of everything which is off putting in many books and instead Glyn talks of making use of student quality paint and good old cheapo paint your wall brushes. Instantly I am dragging out my driftwood and clawing around in the shed for the paintbrushes I used last week to do the living room.

His style is as you would expect from the cover, no nasty surprises inside. He takes you along on a journey of step by step projects which I might add have good clear pictures, great instructions and handy little tips boxes as well. Collage, laying down the paint, mark making it's all there and more. If you are a fan of Glyn's work then you won't be disappointed in this book, it's a little like standing behind him while he paints and getting all the tips of how he does it.

I like this book - it has very interesting ideas and as I find I'm moving away from the more traditional ideas I think this book will be very inspiring. Not only will it be very good for acrylic painting techniques, ideas etc, I also think it can be adapted for pastel painting ideas and techniques, as I also do a great deal of pastel painting.

I have given 5 stars rather than 4 because of the packed amount of useful content in one book. I have many books this size and format by various artists, all of which I treasure but this one I can definitely say is a Tardis.

I had looked at "LOOK INSIDE" and was impressed especially as I am going to paint some pictures in acrylics. I was impressed not just by the content, but the energy and enthusiasm of Glyn Macey is very inspirational and infectious, just like his paintings.

He explains everything very well and the book should be very useful and interesting to not only painting in acrylics but to art in other mediums too, because his vitality and love of life really touch the soul of the chosen subjects.

This guy is a STAR. I want to adopt him. Not only is he maga talented but he's mega nice and has a loving family as he well deserves. Okay back to the book: it's full of inspirational ideas to get your artistic juices flowing. Buy it. Have fun. |Refer to it often. Then treat yourself to one of Glyn's stunning prints. And no, I don't get commission for this - I met Glyn through one of his marvellous art classes. I have all his books now and my painting skills have improved enormously.

I am new to painting and would never have considered it possible to do except for a book like this. Glyn's approach is fun and laid back. His encouragement to use cheaper materials and tools and even to dance while you paint really took the pressure off for me. I can't quite believe I have managed to paint some passable pictures with the advice of this book and I'm looking forward to trying some more of the projects.

I have wanted to stretch my experiences in using acrylics and this book is fabulous! Step by step ways of building colour and texture so a lovely result guaranteed! My art tutor has taken details for this "must have" book. I have grown in confidence to let go and paint! Thank you Glyn for allowing me to copy your wonderful work and have fun at the same time.

Keeps your interest enough to want to read the next book in the series. I like the era that it is written in.

This book is recommended for anyone who wants to try something slightly different from the usual acrylic paintings. Glyn Macey's enthusiasm comes across in the book and his projects are easy to follow, and produce good results, especially if you like the slightly abstract style promoted here. Very pleased I purchased it!

I absolutely loved it. Inspirational, innovative, stunning demonstrations. Glyn has a no nonsense approach to painting. He is able to convey space, movement and above all colour. For anyone starting out painting in acrylics this book is a must, covering materials, subject matter and techniques.
