4.0 out of 5 stars fascinating
Another tour de force from author Jan Messent. This is a fascinating book. Jan follows the story of the embroiderers and presents an alternative view of the tapestry. Another tour de force from author Jan Messent. This is a fascinating book. Jan follows the story of the embroiderers and presents an alternative view of the tapestry. Her interpretations and the missing piece she created are all incredibly exciting. There is something so very special about this tapestry - almost everyone has heard of it, many have seen it - it is a part of history, but rarely talked about from the viewpoint of an embroiderer. All credit to Jan for creating such a colourful account. I cannot review it without mentioning the typeface - I can understand in a way why it was chosen - it 'fits' the theme, but is far too difficult to read. The whole text is re-iterated at the back, but that does not help much. It would have been far better for the sake of legibility to have changed the main typeface. This book was first published in 1999 by Madeira threads.
