Dalek Empire 3.2, The Healers: `I hope I am wrong. I want to be wrong'
First released in 2004, this is the second episode of the third season of audio releases to feature the Daleks and no Doctor.
This episode picks up directly from the first in the season, and follows Galanaar as he starts off on a mission to find the mysterious Daleks and determine whether or not they are friend or foe. Meanwhile on Graxis the wardens are all to aware of the answer to the question - the Daleks are definitely foes! In the middle of it Sy Tarkov, who went off to Velyshaa many years previously to try and find the same answers tries to rebuild his life after decades away.
It's a brilliantly scripted, acted and produced piece. It has to be listened to in conjunction with the other releases in the season (and preferably seasons one and two) to be understood, but other than not being a standalone sotry it is excellent. David Tennant, Who would soon be stepping into the TARDIS, plays Galanaar to good effect, and demonstrates just what a good actor he is.
It's everything that the other instalments have been - exciting adventure interwoven with personal stories and interesting studies of what it is to be human and the nature of our morality.
It's a single disc release, and clocks in at just over an hour. I love the sixties retro artwork, there is a feeling that this has been produced by people like me for people like me - people with a love of good design, a reverence for the Daleks and a sense of style. Excellent, 5 stars.
