5.0 out of 5 stars A different approach
This book is great.

It has many interesting photos not present in The Concorde Story: 21 Years in Service (Civil aircraft) neither on the internet!
Technical details in incredible quantity, explaining why G-BOAG had a different battery system from the other BA Concordes, for example.

Highly recommended for Concorde hardcore fans and also for...

1.0 out of 5 stars UTTER RUBBISH.....
Grossly disappointing:

As an engineer, I expected the content of this book to be more along the lines of the Haynes Manual I have for my Mk2 Ford Cortina - nuts & bolts & electrics etc. - even if only 25% of it due to the size & complexity of Concorde.

But boy was I down-hearted to see this is just another recollection of past tales and basic...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Plane, Fascinating Read, 4 April 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Concorde Manual: An insight into flying, operating and maintaining the world's first supersonic passenger jet (Haynes Owners' Workshop Manuals) (Hardcover)
The Haynes Owners' Worskhop manuals are always a good read, and this is one too: a very iconic aircraft and nice to learn more about it. It does tend to see most things from the British perspective though, as Air France were a major operator and their experiences could have added ice to the cake

I love these Haynes manuals. Bought this for one of my nephew and he loved it too.
The illustrations are great and as a present for a ten year old it really fitted the bill.

5.0 out of 5 stars great reference book, 11 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Concorde Manual: An insight into flying, operating and maintaining the world's first supersonic passenger jet (Haynes Owners' Workshop Manuals) (Hardcover)
these books are really good, loads of pictures and information, they are fascinating. they are not actual workshop manuals for the aircraft as that would be like several telephone directories worth of information but they highlight some of the technical advances relevant to each aircraft in simple terms. I like these books so much that i've decided to start collecting them. Good stuff.

Bought this for my husband who is interested in Planes. I feared that he was intending to build a life sized model of Concorde in the garden. However having looked at the book I have found it very interesting as there are lots of interesting facts and figured in this interesting hard backed book. Thankfully our garden is a little small for the full sized aircraft!
