The is book gives great detail about the bombing of Dresden in 1945 and poses questions as to its real effectiveness.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably more useful for academics

This review is from: Firestorm: The Bombing of Dresden 1945 (Paperback)
It's not what I thought it would be, as it's a collection of essays on aspects of the bombing, rather than a continuing narrative. It does, however, have an excellent summary of the post-war debate (by Richard Overy) and some interesting interviews concerning the classification of the raid as a war crime (by Donald Bloxham). It is disappointing that notorious Holocaust denier David Irving is quoted as if he is Gospel by some contributors. If it's the story of the raid you want, however, I suggest you look elsewhere, but if you are carrying out an in-depth study of the air war in general, and this raid in particular, then you will find this book thought-provoking.

Thought it waould be a more "lighter" read of the raids, but nevertheless it was a good account. A little bit over my head at times.
