This review is from: Pilgrim's Guide To The Camino Portugués Fourth Edition: Lisboa, Porto, Santiago (Camino Guides) (Paperback)
Fabulous book. Compact. Good info which makes me feel safe :)....
And I am especially fond of the authours ability to address the mystical aspects of such a journey. Can't wait to get to Portugal.

If you are walking this route this is about the best guide available.
Compact and informative.Particulary useful as far as advising you as to what to take and what to expect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful Guide, 14 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Pilgrim's Guide To The Camino Portugués Fourth Edition: Lisboa, Porto, Santiago (Camino Guides) (Paperback)
Maps, walking notes and elevation diagrams very useful, the historical information entertains but the 'spiritual' ramblings of Mr Briarly are off putting and nonsensical.

We found the guide not only interesting, but invaluable for planning the day's walk, and for guidance on where to eat, sleep, etc. Packed with useful advice and information - helped to make our experience of the camino unforgettable - for all the right reasons!

5.0 out of 5 stars a useful map guide, 4 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Pilgrim's Guide To The Camino Portugués Fourth Edition: Lisboa, Porto, Santiago (Camino Guides) (Paperback)
.It is a synthesis of of the guide The Way of Portugal, focusing on the essentials, namely, the maps that describe the path, including topography. Although less informative than the guide, is more portable.

Good guide, although not as comprehensive as the Camiño Francés guide but that is probably more to the lack of infrastructure compared to the Camiño Francés route

It takes a while to get in to the layout of the book. Probably not as good as the book about Santiago but we havenut use it practically while travelling yet

Met my expectations. Short and clear. John Brierly is straight to the point and I enjoyed his book Camino de Santiago too.
