4.0 out of 5 stars field service
this book was written and produced during the first world war for the guidance of the soldiers fighting the war it gives an insight into the realities not of combat but of the daily preparation to keep an army in the field what each soldier was expected to do.

not light reading but worth the effort.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting
I like this, but I suspect a lot of people won't. It is a bit dry but it helps understand the way things were around the time before the Geat War. Not just military tactics and practices, but how people were thinking back then. Not a book to read from cover to cover in one enthralled evening, more something to dip into now and again.

I couldn't belive my luck when I found this book. It is increadibly detailed - as one would expect from a reprint - and has been invaluable in my research into WW1.
A real find at a great price

I'm a World War 1 re-enactor and find this book essential reading, couple this with the Infantry Traing Manual and you have all the right detailed knowledge to portray a World War 1 soldier accurately!
