5.0 out of 5 stars excellent
I am very satisfied with this book. I learned a lot I didn't know so far.
Now I can organize my childrens food better and I hope with the help
of this book I can provide my children better nutrition habits and teach
them how to care for their health. Because I believe that our health is in
our hands and by knowledge we can avoid serious deseases.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a breastfeeding-friendly book
While the author pays lip service to the importance of breastfeeding, this is really a formula feeding book:
- It gives no support whatsoever for the breast feeding mother, but minute advice about bottle feeding.
- The author makes very lightly of the risks of formula feeding.
- Several common misconceptions about breast feeding are reinforced, e.g. the...

What a fantastic book. This book includes everything you need to know about feeding your children the healthy way in easy to understand text. It includes wonderful recipe ideas and should be standard government issue to every parent. I strongly recommend this book if you are dedicated to doing the best for your little ones.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a breastfeeding-friendly book, 3 Mar 2006
This review is from: The Food Doctor for Babies and Children (Paperback)
While the author pays lip service to the importance of breastfeeding, this is really a formula feeding book:
- It gives no support whatsoever for the breast feeding mother, but minute advice about bottle feeding.
- The author makes very lightly of the risks of formula feeding.
- Several common misconceptions about breast feeding are reinforced, e.g. the myth that large babies need formula supplements and that many mothers have insufficient milk supplies. The phrase "pressures of modern life" offers a welcome excuse for women who cannot be bothered to commit themselves to what is REALLY the best nutrition for their child.
- The book assumes that at six months old a baby will have a full menu of three different purees per day, including meat and fish. This would not be possible if the baby is exclusively breastfed for at least six months, as is the current recommendation.
- The author assumes that all mothers wean their child off the breast at one year old at the latest.
I have other issues with this book, too, especially the way everything from cradle cap to learning difficulties is blamed on a child's diet. A parent, who wanted to take this book to heart, would need to obsessively control and reglement a child's food intake - certainly not the way to make a child develop healthy eating habits!

The book came with the inside pages not cut properly and all stuck together. For a new book, it should have been a none sale book.
