From the point of view of plot and action set pieces, this for me is one of his weaker ones, lacking in imagination. But is scores well on the African setting for me, you can tell he really spent time in the continent and it feels truer to life than depictions of South America and the Middle East in other novels that felt thin.

The ending was a bit of a let down, but it was OK throughout.

I think the ensemble cast was too large, I mean there must be around 30 characters or so in the book which is a lot for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as his usual work., 23 Sept. 2009
This review is from: Juggernaut (Paperback)
Desmond Bagley's "Juggernaut", was forgettable. I have really liked some of his thrillers in the past, but despite its solid premise of driving an oversized rig through an African country breaking out into civil war promises a lot, it fails to deliver in my eyes. This was his final novel, completed by his family after his death, and I suspect it would have seen more editing and improvements had he been there to do the job himself.
