5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, delicious photographs, 21 Aug. 2003

This review is from: Tarts: Sweet and Savoury (Hardcover)
It starts with basics of tart making (equipment etc.). Then there are different kinds of pastry presented, from basic short crust to puff pastry (some short cuts for the last one are also shown), methods are described for hand made and for food processor (if possible) and ilustrated with step-by-step photos.
And then there are over 100 recipes for tarts and tartlets, sweet and savoury, little, single-portioned, rectangular and regular round, from classics like quiche Lorraine and flamiche, tarte Tatin and strawberry vanilla tart to some new ideas like rose petal or mango pavlova tart (with lime sauce), nutmeg and bay leaf custard or salmon, dill and parmesan tart (with pickled cucumber). Instructions are clear and each recipe has a full colour photograph that looks so yummy it makes you want to start cooking asap.
I love this book. I am going to enjoy cooking (and eating!) lots of treats from it. I am going cooking!

This review is from: Tarts: Sweet and Savoury (Hardcover)
This recipe book is a feast for the eyes. Beautiful photography with wonderful mouth-watering recipes. A section on making the different pastries (ideal for the not-so-practised) and useful tips for the well-practised. A well put together book and one I can't now do without.

4.0 out of 5 stars A book that gets a lot of use in my kitchen, 12 April 2006
This review is from: Tarts: Sweet and Savoury (Hardcover)
This is a superb book. Don't be put off by the fact that it is 50% pictures to 50% text. The photos are inspiring and the copy is full of different pastry & tart recipes, but it's the essential tips & tricks of making the perfect pastries that really makes the book.
