5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever, 17 April 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: British Pantomime Performance (Paperback)
Panto books are ten a penny. This one is that rare thing: a proper analysis of the genre - detailing every ingredient in its wider context with relevant references. It elevates the study of panto as being worthy of serious attention and not something that's a mere catalogue of its history or an indulgent lavishly illustrated elegy. A must not only for the amateur but for the commercial producer and casts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thorough and informative, 23 Dec 2010
This review is from: British Pantomime Performance (Paperback)
This is a very readable and informative survey of British Pantomime. In a readable narrative it combines a wealth of historical information with a lot of current insights. It is also an analysis of the form and working of this particular kind of entertainment. My only regret is that all the pictures are black and white.
