5.0 out of 5 stars Review: Deadline by Mira Grant
What's Good About It

After being blown away by the first instalment of this trilogy, I was excited to get my hands on Deadline for ages. And it didn't disappoint. Unlike so many second parts of trilogies which are flabby around the edges, stalling for time, and with no real sense of threat, Deadline only escalates the tension. Shaun's deteriorating mental state...

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing certain crucial ingredients
I really enjoyed Feed and was looking forward to the sequel. However, possible spoilers ahead, Deadline was missing a few key ingredients that made Feed so good. It also included stuff that really wasn't necessary. If you liked Feed for all the action and fighting, you really might not enjoy the sequel.

As a read, its pretty good. Its just as accessible and...

A superb sequel from Mira Grant that carries the saga of the Mason siblings to new heights and the reader is once more swept along in a brilliantly crafted conspiracy that just happens to have zombies as its topic. George is dead but lives on in Sean's head as he seeks the answers to her death and uncovers even more and deadlier questions. Mira Grant has a recognisable style of writing unlike a lot of authors andd its a style I like a lot. Getting into the story was like discovering a favourite jumper you'd thought you'd lost and couldn't wait to wear again. If you haven't yet read 'Feed' then buy it and this at the same time then take the week off and immerse yourself in one of the best conceived future worlds that I've read.

I loved the first book, but found the second one a bit like a Coke commercial.

OK, so you're in downtime for the next Romero film, you've read pretty much every zombie book out there (even the one about a Zombie Autopsy) and are looking for something new, something novel and something pretty epic that will glut you fuller than a zombie at an all you can eat brain buffet. So what are you going to do?

Well, have you heard of Mira Grant? You haven't? You mean you missed that original release of Feed (reviewed here)?

Worry no longer then, for Mira Grant (aka Seanan McGuire) is back with a vengeance in this, her second novel in the Newsflesh trilogy which has something for everyone. You want conspiracy, yep, you want some top zombie action, you've got that as well and if you want high octane action blended with hyper charged sexual tension, well you've got that thrown into the mix.

All in this title is a satisfactory addition to the Zombie genre and one that the reader will thrill, chill and perhaps even spill to get their hands upon. A great offering and one that really will please that inner zombie. BBbbbbrrrraaaiiiinnnnsssss.
