If you love novels where characters take central the full three dimension stage by storm then you really will love Celia's writing. Not is her characterisation above par but there's very few authors out there that can even match it. Whilst the other novels have remained a bit on the quiet side, it has, I'll admit been a little bit of a secret of mine as much as a guilty pleasure to enjoy these novels as they've come out as each successive novel has built itself up for a sequel that I wondered if she'd be able to pull off.

What also makes this series a great one is that Celia takes a stand on one key element. No one is safe and death comes on swift wings even for the principle protagonists. Whilst it's a lot of the supporting cast taking centre stage for this one it's a novel that will contain shocks for many readers and will make this a firm favourite for a number of nominations this year. If you have a fantasy fan in your house and are unsure about what to get them this year, then take a sneaky hint from us, this series is something that's been a bit on the down low so they may not have heard of it. Extra household points will be won and you can near enough guarantee a quiet seasonal few days around the house as the reader is held in Celia's fist until that last page is turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars wings of wrath, 6 Feb 2010

This is book is even better than the first. The story takes a new turn and there are new elements that were only hinted at in the first book. CS Friedman never fails to deliver and unlike other fantasy writers, is always original with her ideas and doesn't write to a set formula.....can't wait for the third book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving it, 14 May 2013
This review is from: Wings Of Wrath: The Magister Trilogy: Book Two (Paperback)
I'm around half way through this book and it doesn't disappoint. As good as the first one, if not better, with beautiful writing, well formed characters and a story that keeps you guessing.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!, 23 Sep 2010
I was given the first book as a present and was hooked from the first page into a world of magic and fantasy so had to get the second in the series which didn't disappoint, and well the third in the seies is still being written so will definately purchase it......The charactors are defined with great detail and the reasons behind their skills and personalities are fantastic...Very dark read and well worth a look, just get a copy and enjoy being whisked off to an imaginary world where anything could happen. ********** 10 STARS-BRILLIANT!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down!, 23 Aug 2010
This review is from: Wings Of Wrath: The Magister Trilogy: Book Two (Paperback)
Wow I absolutley loved this book, and was so sad to finish it as the next book in this trilogy isn't out yet, so a bit of a wait to see the final outcome. But don't let that put you off reading this now, as it really is something special. After reading the first book 'A feast of souls' which I thought was fab, I didn't know if the next book would be able to keep up with the tension and also whether I would be able to get as attached to the characters in this novel as much as I did in the first book, as Friedman has no qualms about killing main characters off. And that was a shocker in the first book!! But believe me you will become very involved in all the characters and will really care about what happens to them. A compelling page turner, full of twists and shocks that will leave you wanting more!! Can't wait for book 3!!
