This book is clear and concise yet covers all the things a child needs to know for the subject at hand. I have just used this book as a revision aid with my 9 year old for Creative Writing and Comprehension. It is fun - children like the language used - and full of valuable helping points. I have been a teacher myself for 16 years - these books are excellent summaries! Can't remember the difference between a simile and a metaphor or what a compound sentence is? This will tell you! I can also highly recommend "The Tricky Bits" - more on grammar.

The Study Books are a good series of books for children studying for SATS exams, they are helpful to any Parent not knowing what exactly is covered at school and break the National Curriculum down into easier to understand sections in a fun way. The language used is not the best but it does lighten the tone instead of being serious and boring.

Having bought the complete set for my son with hindsight I would have just stuck to the Study books without the Tricky Bit books as a lot of the work in them is duplicated in the Study book, the Study book has the advantage of question and answer sections in them as well.

Buy the Study books with a set of practice SATS papers (Questions and Answers) and your child will gain confidence.

Downside is that you then have to mark it all!.....

A revision guide which makes English grammar fun.

I'm a big fan of the CGP study guide series, and the KS 2 English Study Book is no exception. Our 10 year-old has worked her way through it with enthusiasm. The colourful, well-designed pages and humour make the book a surprisingly enjoyable read.

Although this book is aimed at English schoolchildren, I should have thought its comprehensive and comprehensible sections on grammar and usage (eg "When to start a new paragraph"; "Writing a formal letter") would be useful background reading for any student of the English language.

This study book was just right except that is didn't have the current curriculum in it. Have to buy the 'study' issue to solidify.

I didn't realise that the book would be totally used inside. all the answers are marked and some in pen so not really much use to my son. Otherwise the book itself is really useful. But feel it should have specified that all the worksheets are used and marked in pen.

This is an excellent book for students in year 2 it covers everything in these key stages

The CGP range of books are used by my son in a variety of subjects. He enjoys using them as they are clear, easy to follow and have a mild (although sometimes poor!) humour throughout them. I find the Study Books useful to have as it gives an idea around the syllabus they are studying (it is a few years since my O levels) and lets me ask questions once I know what is being studied. The illustrations are good and there are some excellent examples. This is definitely a series I find myself reading for half an hour to "remind" myself of a subject.

My minor gripe is that I would not class the CGP books as 100% useful for study. They lack an amount of detail so you would need a reference book to give more meat to a subject.

Overall, a well presented set of books which are more useful to parents than to students, in my opinion.

Would highly recommend this book as it covers everything but in a fun way tat the children like, going through all aspects of literacy great all round book

This book is a very useful revision resource for Year 6 pupils. It contains advice for Reading, Writing and Spelling with very clear examples.

It is a very good book and is a great help for my sons SATs tests coming up in May. I am glad that I bought it.
