Got this for my Dad's 77th birthday as he is from the Portsmouth area. He loved it and didn't put it down all day. Lots of photographs and the hardback edition with a glossy cover makes it a nice gift.

Having coming from Portsmouth I can remember some of the places in this book that I knew when I was a young boy. sadly, some have been demolished to make way for new buildings etc. however, there is still quite a lot of the older buildings still standing today. the books starts from 1900-1999 including the most ugliest building in Portsmouth (The Tri-corn). it has now been demolished with cries of joy all round. There is still things to see of Portsmouth's past the old tramlines in Rugby road near Fratton . the King's Theatre Southsea (very little has changed) the book is a very good reference book about Portsmouth. although I moved from that City in 1987 to Dorset I still have friends down there and I do like to vist the City and look out for these buildings that are still with us today.
