This is a new blend of familiar advice about goal setting, time management and turning your dreams into realities. Nigel Risner is direct and refreshingly honest. He flatly acknowledges that most people don't act because they find it easier not to or because they are lazy. He emphasizes enjoying yourself and incorporating "comic relief" into your planning - a welcome change from many advice books. Risner is an award-winning motivational speaker, and you won't forget this for a moment as you read. Sometimes, his book sounds like the published version of an oft-given speech. Although some of Risner's jokes and turns of phrase probably do a great job of building connections and revving up a live audience, they fall flat on the page. Similarly, he uses oversized fonts and repetition as he might use visual aids and increases in volume to clarify his points in a speech. In writing, though, the results can be a little confusing. Still, if you're looking for more depth and meaning in your life and relationships, getAbstract recommends trying the exercises and taking to heart the stories in this book.

There are so many self-help books! Which to buy? For most of us the answer is, numerous, and they tend to be either read once, and then forgotten, or not read at all; either way the difference they make to our lives tends to be negligible. This syndrome is what Nigel Risner calls 'shelf development' - i.e. too many books, too many good intentions, all ending up on the shelf, gathering dust. We end up expecting different results from the same behaviours.

Nigel's book, The IMPACT Code, begs to differ. It starts from the premise that, in order to change, in order to get and live the life we deserve, we must first commit to action. And that starts with being 'In the room' (the 'I' of IMPACT). A book that doesn't just 'tell you what to do' - a book that demands your attention! Of course, we can all choose to stay within our comfort zone and, having read this book, put it on the shelf with the others. This book, however, not only grabs our attention, it follows through with a code that is so simple, and so clearly explained, that...well...why wouldn't we keep it by us, use it, and take action to make an IMPACT and achieve the change - and the life - we want (and deserve)?

If you haven't heard Nigel Risner speak, take it from me this man knows how to make an IMPACT, and this book will help you to do so too. What are you waiting for?!

Absolutely essential reading!... I found myself re reading and re reading not because I couldnt take it in... but because it was such a self discovery!

One of the first parts of the book discribes the inner voices in our heads... 'the coach' the inner voice which says '... yes, go for it.. you can do this, come on!' and 'the commentator' - who is responsible for making us doubt our abilities and our self worth etc.... The commentator is the negative inner voice we all have who says 'I'm gonna look stupid, they'll think I'm a fool, I'll fail if I try, so I'll sit this out' We are the player. Having this analogy makes so much sense - and it's so clear to me now whats been going on in my head! Lol!... So now I am ignoring my doubting commentator and believing in my coach.... who ultimately... is me! And life just gets better and better!

Nigel has made this a humourous book, a no nonsense read... and he seems to speak directly to the reader... This book will not sit and get dusty on the shelf... I will keep it where I can see it and keep dipping into it regularly to help reinforce the messages.

Thank you Nigel, you have made such a difference and I know that I will now stop procrastinating... get off my backside and make my business fly! - My coach is telling me I can do it!

OMG what a book! Nigel packs several knock out punches in this straight talking, witty and powerful read that will have you raring to change as of tomorrow. Many have the t-shirt, but seldom few 'share' the t-shirt and this is what he does.

Brilliantly and honestly delivered.

But the book is just the first step...Having seen him deliver in front of 12 to 2,000 people you must simply either 1. Go to see him speak, or 2. Book him to speak at your next event.

I have not always agreed with everything Nigel Risner says.... far from it.
Yet in this book you will find the pages packed with information that will challenge you, provoke you, and inspire you to take action.
Many years ago Nigel challenged me in this way .... and it worked !
This book pulls no punches and is written in a similar style to which he speaks and presents.
A great read.

I purchased this book after watching Nigel in action in Bournemouth during the Summer of 2013. He was truly inspirational and I wanted to learn/know more. I bought the book (as well as his zoo around here book). He words within the book were exactly what I wanted to read. For me, the book was trying to tell me something more and it took months for me to truly digest and fully understand and appreciate the meaning. Since finishing the book, I am now in the room - I will not procrastinate, I now know my purpose and I have taken action.
The book is not a boring self-help book, it has humour and it is in an easy to read format. This book is for anyone to read as there will be something in there that will make 'sense'. It is a refreshing read and a proper page turner.
If I could suggest this book to anyone, it would be for those who are feeling they want more, or even if they think that they feel they have lost some direction, then this book will truly set them on the right path.

If you like books that take on a no nonsense approach, that tells it like it is, that makes you 'think' and 'do', then this is for you.
The style makes it easy to read but more importantly act upon what is being given to you.
For me, this isn't just a book, it's a gift and is something I have given to friends and colleagues I like who have all raved about it too..

Inspiring and practical "Code" to really create Impact into your own life! Loved it for the challenges and difficult questions it asks of you and helps you grow. It's like having a piece of Nigel's wisdom condensed into bite sized do-able chunks that will help you realise what you want to achieve and then bring it forth from possibility to reality.

It's rare to find an author that can challenge our beliefs and behaviours and still make us feel looked after and cared for. Nigel Risner nudges the reader towards self discovery, looking in places we hadn't even thought of. I thoroughly enjoyed The Impact Code and am extremely happy to recommend it.

This is one of the best books in my library and I've often recommended it to my clients. Nigel brought some basic principles into plain view in a way that anyone should pick up in no time. For a start, to take part in life you need to be in the room. Not sure what that means? Read the book...
