3.0 out of 5 stars Brief History of chairs
Does not really tell you what it says on the cover.
It is good for a summary of influential chairs throughout history with references to some famous designer quotes.
Good for a quick read but not if you are looking for an in depth study on designing chairs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for the interview with Konstantin Grcic, 10 Aug 2011
This review is from: Design Museum How to Design a Chair (Hardcover)
This book starts with a typical history of the design of chairs; nothing that you wouldn't find in another 50 odd books of a similar ilk. However, towards the back of the book there is a truly fascinating interview with Konstantin Grcic focusing on the design development of the Myto, plastic cantilever chair, in association with the chemical company BASF. The interview charts the development of the chair that was designed to exploit the properties of a new generation of plastic called Ultradur‚ High Speed. Grcic talks in candid detail about times in this highly experimental project where some serious technical problems had to be overcome. A great interview to read if you're embarking on designing any kind of plastic moulding. A pretty good one just to nerd out on too!
