5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for Revision, 24 Feb 2011
This review is from: Clinical Bacteriology (Paperback)
I've just finished an MSc in clinical microbiology and this book was one of the best I used for the bacteriology element. This book gives you all the basics and all the "headline" points that you need to remember to get most of the marks in exams. Yes, you will need to know the information in more detail than is provided here - but when revising you don't need the detail - you need something that you can easily carry around and doesn't scare you to death with how much you don't know like some of the big textbooks. Memorise the excellent diagrams!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for any Medical, Biomedical or Biological sciences student!, 26 May 2009

This review is from: Clinical Bacteriology (Paperback)
This book is clearly laid out, very easy to understand and the coloured illustrations add to the concise explanations within the text. I would highly recommend the book to any Medical, Microbiology, Biomedical or Biological sciences student studying Microbiology.

Starting with the concise chapter on structure and function of bacteria, followed by the second chapter, titled "how bacteria cause disease" the reader is guided through the pathogenicity of, diagnostic tests, use of anitimicrobials, examples of various bacterial diseases, infections in a modern society and control of infection in a smooth and easy to understand manner.

I would have given this book five stars, however I feel that the reader would require prior knowledge on the structure and function of bacteria to fully understand how they cause disease, and how these diseases can be managed in a clinical setting.
