4.0 out of 5 stars 400 rugby quips ....
Two hundred pages with an average of two quotes per page makes this a quick read; you'll be through it in just a couple of hours.

It is on the whole light-hearted, interesting and entertaining. Any rugby fan will enjoy it.

Worth a read, but not at the full cover price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Not as funny as I thought it might be. I gave it to my son for his Birthday so I await his opinion.
Delivery & timing were satisfactory.

As a rugby enthusiast for many years, these punchy quotes from rugby greats are exactly expected from off the cuff statements. The quotations are accredited and unbelievably believable. 'He's a guy who gets up at six o'clock in the morning regardless of what time it is', NZ rugby player. 'They trained like trained like Tarzan all week and then played like Jane', NZ coach.

This is packed with amusing quips, mostly spontaneous by rugby experts and given in the heat of the moment that only add to their impact. Maybe without a quick brain and shortness of breath, the comments may be looked back on as, 'did I say that?'. That is not to say rugby players have no intellect, speaking as a prop forward.

Just what I needed for a dedicated rugby fan. Not sure how many hours enjoyment he got from it, but the quotes added to the school Christmas dinner entertainment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, 12 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Rugby Wit: Quips and Quotes for the Rugby Obsessed (Hardcover)
This is a really funny book, some great quotes - I have laughed out loud on several occasions.

Each page has a new quote & they are grouped into sections.

Its not exactly a sit and read it cover to cover book, but great to pickup now and again to have a giggle.

Good for a coffee table book, I have enjoyed this book and even recall some of the extracts being in the paper at the time. Makes a great present for anyone interested in Rugby. Some of the quotes are mint - i.e. "He limped off the feild with a sore finger"

I don't know anything about rugby, and didn't know what to get my rugby obsessed brother-in-law for Christmas. He loved this book, and it helped to keep the conversation flowing during the day.

Expected some funny, cutting anecdotes, instead got one of the most limp, boring books I have ever read. My granny tells funnier stories.
