The stories in this collection are Lovecraft's best. 'The Lurking Fear', 'The Beast in the Cave', 'Cold Air', and 'The Rats in the Walls', illustrate the possible horrors in which man plays the terror. 'The Moon-bog', 'the Terrible Old Man', 'The Street' and 'The Music of Erich Zann' bring a mixture of fantasy and horror. This volume strays away from the Cthulhu mythos and other stories of bizarre sci-fi fantasy. For those who want to read a different theme from Lovecraft, I recommend this volume. It is ‘honeycombed’ with good stories.
