They don't call them classics for any old reason. Most of the plays in here are full of wit and humour. I liked Ernest, a woman of no importance and Vera. The plays of Wilde are something everyone should read whether they have an interest or not, as was my case.

Good buy at an excellent value. Before the plays there is an introduction giving some of the main details of Wilde's literary style and of the plays.

Vera; or, The Nihilists
The Duchess of Padua
Salomé
lady Windermere's Fan
A Woman o No Importance
An Ideal Husband
The Importance of Being Earnest
La Sainte Courtisane
A Florentine Tragedy

Like all the Wordsworth classics, this book has some information about the author, and when the plays or books were written, which can be nice to read sometimes. I am a big Oscar Wilde fan, and my favourite Is The Importance Of Being Earnest.

I don't know how they do it for the money. The delight in the words will distract you from the slightly cramped text. For anyone new to Oscar, this is a tremendously valuable book. For less than a decaff cappuccino? Buy it!

Oscar Wilde never dates-doesn't read as "period" either.
All of these should go down well with intelligent modern audiences---expensive to mount though!

Very reasonable price and Wilde's plays are simply incredible! Must buy! Favourites are the importance of being earnest and A woman of no importance, salome.
