5.0 out of 5 stars MARCHING ON TOGETHER!!!!!!, 16 July 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Looking for Eric: In Search of the Leeds Greats (Paperback)
What a great book this is. Written by a thirty-something fan of the club who really switches into the feel of this mighty club.
We go on a journey into the past and have a look at the present - its glorious wins and glorious defeats! His staple to the whole book is Eric Cantona and his 'magic' - and how the author tries for an interview. On the way however he talks to the real heroes of Leeds, including Eddie Gray(my hero!),Norman Hunter, Peter Lorimer, John Charles and a couple of chapters on Billy Bremner and Albert Johanson who are sadly not now with us. He has a few words with our modern White Shirt wearers in Nigel Martyn, Stephen Mcphail, Micheal Bridges and Leeds Hero BATTY,BATTY - plus a really interesting piece with South African Captain Lucas Radebe.
This is a brilliant piece of Football literature - very well written, so very interesting and a book all Leeds fans would love to write. Leeds Utds answer to Fever Pitch? Maybe - but in my opinion this is a unique read and a different perspective is given (Fever Pitch is brilliant in its own way!)
All Leeds fans should read this. But so should ALL football fans who enjoy footballing literature - this is intelligent, funny, interesting and for this reviewer took him back to the Eighties and gave him a few prompts - Alex Sabella?!?!? The Cantona goal versus Chelsea was special but that is just a piece of this great book - Buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read for all Leeds followers, 18 Nov. 2001
This review is from: Looking for Eric: In Search of the Leeds Greats (Paperback)
Rick Broadbent captures the excitement and drama of over 40 years of Leeds legends in a most thrilling eulogy of Leeds success and rollercoaster fortunes since the glory years of the Revie era. Definitely the book to read if you've ever cheered Leeds to success in football.

This book will transport you back to key memories from recent seasons & those from bygone days. Looking for Eric is informative, amusing, serious, but most of all enjoyable. It flows from one memory to another, with most of the Leeds greats recalling their moments of glory, offering candid views on the players of their era & those playing today. Packed with long forgotten facts & anecdotes, this is a must read, not only for fans of Leeds Utd, but also for fans of football.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amust read for all Leeds fans & all true football fans, 4 Jun. 2001

This review is from: Looking for Eric: In Search of the Leeds Greats (Paperback)
An excellent insight into the minds of some of the greats who have graced Elland Road. Not surprisingly the old stars seem keener to talk than some of the younger ones (Kewell for example ignores the author) but then the old stars have the most interesting stories to tell. As a Leeds fan who enjoys football books in general this is a very enjoyable read.

Rick has written this book with great feelings. If you were not at any of these football matches or shared in his memories then this book certainly puts you in 'the crowd'.
