5.0 out of 5 stars A must read
My husband is currently serving in Afghanistan and sent me the information regarding this book. I downloaded it to my iPad and Wow, I was hooked. A beautifully written book, with such a wonderful story. I would encourage everyone to read it. I hope to see more of this wonderful author in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoying it
I must admit to taking longer than normal to get through this book, but I am enjoying it and finding it quite different to anything else I have read and quite enjoying the way it is written .

An informative and gripping book. The story is full of emotion, from the anger to euphoria. The writer has the ability to keep you within the story and anxious to move on all through.Truly an honest write and well worth a read

5.0 out of 5 stars Poppy Day Review, 1 Dec 2011
This review is from: Poppy Day (Kindle Edition)
Most amazing insight into life in the armed forces I have ever read with humour and love - it's definitely a must read and I couldn't put it down once I started it. The book is honest and forthright and keeps us all focused on what these men and women go through. More so, it lets us all know what a difficult time it is when the person you love has "gone missing". Should be a Christmas Book for all. Amanda is a magician with the images she conjures up in your head from the story she tells.

5.0 out of 5 stars How for some people Poppy Day is every day, 25 Jun 2012

A marvellous book that really brings home the feelings of an "army wife" who would do anything to bring home the love of her life.
Full of sparks of romance and humour, the serious subject is brought to life in a real way, and you will wish you could keep reading even past the end of the book.
I would highly recommend this as a holiday read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected pleasure!!, 30 Aug 2011
This review is from: Poppy Day (Kindle Edition)
I wasn't sure what to expect from this first time author but I must say I was blown away. I don't have any experience of war first hand I'm lucky to say but I really felt empathy for the very real characters in this novel. I thoroughly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars poppy day, 26 Jun 2012
This review is from: Poppy Day (Paperback)
My 3 sons are in the Army, as was their father, this book made me laugh, remembering the image of an old stiff upper lipped officer I once came across and then cry at the thought of missing or losing a loved one, the story although fiction is of great strength, courage and unfaltering love, please do not read this book and think that anyone can get through Brize Norton and fly out to Afgan, I've been there more times than I care to remember, but it most definitly gave me pause for thought then laughter. Beautifully written, could not put it down until finished. Looking forward to authors next book.

What an absolute brilliant book. It is either a love story a very modern one, a war story, or a thriller. You take you pick personally I think that it is all three. You never know what is going to happen next or what side people are on. Once you start you just do not want to put down. Hope that it not just a one off from her.

Once into this book & it's characters you are compelled to keep reading. I thought sections were a little far fetched at times but that did not stop me from being with Poppy & feeling all the emotions with her. The way it is written has you completely immersed into Poppy's life, it will make you smile but also make you cry!
All in all an excellent read & one to recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars A real mix of emotions, 26 Mar 2012

As the mum of a serving soldier on tour at the moment I try to donate to all the forces charities so I bought the book for the Royal British Legion, not really intending to read it. I am so glad I did read it!!!! It will make you cry and laugh sometimes at the same time. A real mixture of emotions and not just intended for those who have someone in the forces, a very enjoyable read for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly emotionally wise book, 14 Dec 2011
This review is from: Poppy Day (Paperback)
I read this remarkable book virtually in one sitting. Amanda Prowse shows great wisdom - emotional and spiritual - in the telling of this story. Her characters are convincing and the gripping tale is spiked with humour. But what I liked most of all was the close identification I felt from the moment the 'action' began. I was constantly being put into situations where I found myself asking 'what would I do here?' As though I was being taken on a journey. Without wanting to give too much away, I thought the best part of the book is that it does not end where a more conventional book might, but deals honestly with the very real issue of PTSD.
