5.0 out of 5 stars Dive in!
Jenny Landreth has been blogging about swimming with wit and warmth for several years, and every post (and, latterly, column in the Guardian) is a joy. From the horrors of filthy changing rooms to the bliss of slipping into cold water and finding her rhythm, you are with her every inch of the way. She is the best companion, quick to spot absurdity but alert to beauty,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for families?
We are a family of pretty keen pool users, although the girls are still learning to swim, so I was hoping to discover new pools that are family orientated. Any book that has the Latchmere Pool in Battersea "languishing at the bottom" has different sets of criteria for rating a pool. There are loads to choose from, although many wouldn't be keen on noisy children,...

Jenny Landreth has been blogging about swimming with wit and warmth for several years, and every post (and, latterly, column in the Guardian) is a joy. From the horrors of filthy changing rooms to the bliss of slipping into cold water and finding her rhythm, you are with her every inch of the way. She is the best companion, quick to spot absurdity but alert to beauty, serious about her sport but never knowingly po-faced. Her enthusiasm is, as the saying goes, infectious, and I suspect you'll be in your swimming cozzie before finishing the book.

Whether you are a Londoner or a tourist planning a holiday, a water baby or water-shy, here is a gem that deserves your attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring, 17 May 2014
This review is from: Swimming London: London's 50 greatest swimming spots (Paperback)
Just seen this book and it is wonderful, full of little known places to swim, lakes in London, swishy rooftop hotel pools, river swims, ponds, lidos, indoor pools. An essential book for London swimmers and also a very nice practical size to carry about.

Really interesting and useful. Encouraging me to go further afield for my swimming. A good mix of publicly-owned swimming facilities and posh hotels.

Any book that has the Latchmere Pool in Battersea "languishing at the bottom" has different sets of criteria for rating a pool. There are loads to choose from, although many wouldn't be keen on noisy children, and maybe when the girls are better swimmers we will explore some of them.
