5.0 out of 5 stars If you liked the movie, you'll love this!
A very good adaption of the screenplay, with extended story. See the film first if you don't want spoilers! Great.

3.0 out of 5 stars The movie is better
The great drawback to this novelisation is that if you haven't watched the movie, you wouldn't necessarily get the parameters of the world building. In the movie itself, you get the Jaegers and the Otachi in terms of scale, scope and world ending consequences when things go wrong. The ending between Raleigh and Mako in the movie was a lot better than the novel as...

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic, 20 Nov 2013
The movie is pretty amazing to be fair but the book builds on that, adding even more and sounding even more indepth and due to that I give it a 5*

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful background, 21 Oct 2013

This book, whilst not by anystretch of the imagination, a literary masterpiece was an enjoyable read.
Like 99% of movie tie-ins it sticks faithfully to the storyline of the movie. It does add some extra meat to kaiju science, delving into the biology and abilities of the monsters in a way that the film could not show.

Downloaded fine.Removing a star because there were a couple of typos. This is a brilliant novelization of the movie and really brings the background of everything to life. It is well worth a read if you really enjoyed this world and craved more.

The great drawback to this novelisation is that if you haven't watched the movie, you wouldn't necessarily get the parameters of the world building. In the movie itself, you get the Jaegers and the Otachi in terms of scale, scope and world ending consequences when things go wrong. The ending between Raleigh and Mako in the movie was a lot better than the novel as well.

That being said, the novel went more in depth in painting a portrait of Chuck and Herc Hanson which I appreciated, and it had various sidelines to the world that weren't touched on in the movie (like people worshiping the Otachi).

4.0 out of 5 stars A fairly good novelisation., 27 Sep 2013

This review is from: Pacific Rim: The Official Movie Novelization (Mass Market Paperback)
It expanded on the events of the film and provided a lot of background and character motivation that was cut from the movie for pacing reasons, fairly well written and all in all an enjoyable read.
