5.0 out of 5 stars If you love riding in mountains........, 21 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Mountain Higher: Europe's Extreme, Undiscovered and Unforgettable Cycle Climbs (Hardcover)
A superb follow up to Mountain High, with some beautiful photography and descriptions that create an immediate urge to seek out new climbs. We have found we have to ration ourselves to reading about a climb at a time to avoid finishing the book too quickly. The stats and profiles are precise and accurate, for anyone who loves riding in mountains this book is a must.

Very like the first and with the same mixture of stunning photography, cycling history, factual information and anecdote.
However there are far fewer world famous climbs and plenty of less well known but equally wild and beautiful climbs. Keep 'em coming boys.

The best part is that most are all "off the beaten trail" climbs, ones equally tough but only the "locals" know about, Specifically learning about "il Carpegna mi Basta" a little known climb to most of us, its importance understated.

The QuercusEye is also an enhancement and makes the book fun as you can better visualize the pave'

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll want to go to these unknown climbs, 2 Jan 2014

This review is from: Mountain Higher: Europe's Extreme, Undiscovered and Unforgettable Cycle Climbs (Hardcover)
Another grear book following his first. Great information and some fantastic pictures. If i have a criticism, its that many of the pictures are too obtuse; a book of great climbs should focus on the landscape and the road, not a pile of fir cones of a piece of rock. However, overall it's very good.

My brother in law, a keen road cyclist and into 'extremes', loved this as a Christmas present. It is now a permanent feature of their coffee table.

5.0 out of 5 stars like that of the climbs of the Grimsel, 1 Oct 2014

The cover view is of Grosse Scheidegg, a climb that I happened to do, not long before buying the book. The descriptions, like that of the climbs of the Grimsel, Furka and Susten passes, are most interesting and accurate and the content is just perfect for any keen cyclist. Hugely recommended - and buy his other book, Mountain High, which is equally informative and enthralling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, 19 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Mountain Higher: Europe's Extreme, Undiscovered and Unforgettable Cycle Climbs (Hardcover)
Not a sequel! But the book that Friebe always wanted to write.
Bottom line: Excellent Book, but not for the newcomer to cycling who has only heard of the "famous climbs" - this book reveals to the hardened cyclist the climbs that he/she should have done ... or should do ... once they have ticked the boxes from the first book ( Mountain High)
Mountain Higher is great - most of the climbs will not be known to most cyclists but the photographs are excellent, the prose is inspiring and the overall package is grrrreat. Buy Mountain High, then buy Mountain Higher!
