Food is so fashionable its hard to find something new to say - but this book takes another perspective, not just food, but appetite itself .... and looks at how we are subtly groomed to want what is on offer.

Fascinating read and so politely written!

A consumate exercise in taste and manners: the prose is exquisite and the mind at work sharper than a chef's knife blade. Finkelstein reinvents the ways in which we might think about food, marketing, and of course ourselves. A fabulous book recommended to anyone who ever thinks about eating, dining or the self.
