This isn't a book I had seen or heard of:not one in circulation around my weaving friends, but thought it was worth a punt. It is a well considered book, some nice basic stuff for beginners, well observed and illustrated and usefully builds up to more technical details and pattern suggestions. It's a weaving manual, so I haven't worked through all of it yet, but it looks very promising and pitched at the right level to take a beginner through to competent waving - and understanding weave structure.

This is a total inspirational weaving book. It covers structures such as plain weave, honeycomb, mock, twills and double cloth and encourages the weaver to experiment and stretch their own boundaries. The photographs enhance the idea of experimentation and the diagrams are clear.

The first glance through the book, the pages are filled with threading and lifting plans, along with pen drawing structures of the weave. There are colour illustrations too, to help the reader to realise the textile outcome for each weave structure. There is guidance for required yarns and help and tips for the weaver. Some of the threading plans do not always have a lifting plan to accompany it. The weaver has to recognise that there may be more than one threading plan, and to look further on to see the threading plan for all. Can be a little confusing to begin with but to realise the lifts are actually written out in full, not using a 'tie up' to follow. Despite my critism, I am pleased to have bought the book. For a Beinner weaver who wants more and a challenge for the Intermediate weaver, but it. One for the bookshelf.
