5.0 out of 5 stars Upcycled Fashion - of Now, 19 Jan 2014

This book has an up to date report on contemporary, Eco fashion Designers, with plenty of pictures to inspire.
I have enjoyed looking up most of the Designers' web sites. There are plenty of links at the back of the book if You would like to research further. The Designers are mostly Western, Uk and States with several in Scandinavia plus more. I like the layout and Sass Brown has written this book in an interesting way. Only thing lacking ( small point) is extensive information about each Designer, although as I said I was inspired enough to find out more. I will certainly look out for more from Sass Brown

Love this book!, they are many companies listed with their products and their processes, very inspiring and left me with a bit more optimistic about the future of fashion and refashion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin, 10 Feb 2014
This review is from: ReFashioned: Cutting-Edge Clothing from Upcycled Materials (Hardcover)
Once again, Sass Brown has fused her considerable knowledge and experience of upcycling and sustainable design with an acute aesthetic sensibility to create a cornucopia of ideas, information, insights and stunning imagery. 'ReFashioned' is to her début book, 'Eco Fashion', what The Godfather: Part II is to The Godfather - a sequel that all but surpasses the original in terms of its sheer dynamism.

Brown is that rare beast in academia - an author who speaks to those way beyond the narrow confines of esoteric research while retaining a scholarly edge that satisfies even the most anally retentive student (or even master) of fashion.

A highly recommended text for those with a commercial, ethical and/or academic eye.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alternative Fashion World, 24 Nov 2013

S. Brown (USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: ReFashioned: Cutting-Edge Clothing from Upcycled Materials (Hardcover)
Sass Brown's new book shows us an alternative fashion world - one where the skill of the designer at selecting and using unwanted materials reigns supreme - and with her extensive case study research she brings us the best of global fashion recycling now. With an experienced connoisseurs eye Brown selects brands and individuals that all contribute in significant ways to this growing ambition - for an industry that is less wasteful and more creative with its use of resources.

We need more designers working with reclaimed materials, making fashion that is truly desirable, thus shifting the consumer's perception that recycled fashion is not in some way as good as a garment made form virgin fibres. Brown's book shows us that designers are beginning to lead the way now, and that producers need to take note of this growing market and invest in the systems to support it. This book helps us to see this greener future really may come true for us all - and is a must for students, aspiring designers, savvy consumers and visionary businesses alike.
