What a disappointment. With hindsight, I should have realised that an A to Z anthology was bound to be padded out with material just there because the alphabet demanded it. I would be amazed to find anyone who had actually ploughed through the entire 248 pages of this, hunting out the very occasional laugh.

This is an alphabetical list of essays on Glasgow comedians and comedy subjects. The choice of subjects is a bit random; some such as Jimmy Logan are afforded only half a page, and many others such as Doris Droy or Sammy Murray are missed out completely. Unfortunately some of the dates given, and probably some of the comments, are inaccurate which reduces the value of the book.
The book appears to have been hurriedly written and in itself is not funny.
