The photography and explanations in this book are brilliant. I'm not an experienced woodworker, and yet this book gives me the confidence to tackle things I didn't think were possible - let alone within my reach. Even if you're not into actual restoration, this book is great to see how quality furniture is, and was, constructed.

WOW. This book is excellent. It covers in details everything anyone wants to know about restoration or conservation, wood or metal. Mostly wood which is the reason why i bought it, as i have a chair i want to restore. A bible more like it, it has a great section about cleaning, tecqniques and also upholstery. You won't be disappointed if you are a beginner and need a guide to start, it also has some projects at the end too ambitious for me but for the apprentice or student great to do. I recommend it.

I bought this originally to learn how to restore a set of Victorian dining chairs, but my first copy got damp and all the pages stuck together so I had to get another. It's an excellent bible for the novice upholsterer.

Arrived promptly and well packaged. The content exceeded what I expected [many of these 'craft' publications are basic in the extreme]. This one has well defined illustrations, including complete projects from start to finish. Very helpful, like a 'Haynes manual' for refurbishment projects.

Good images in the book backed up by good descriptions. They say some items should be left to a professional restorer but we all have to start somewhere. Mistakes are what gives us experience and what we learn by.

Bought with my husband in mind. Our kitchen chairs needed attention. The book gave all the answers, but he found a furniture restorer to fix them - anyway, the purchase was great, it got the job done !

A nice looking book and all, but it's very advanced. Not what I really was looking for. You would require a big workshop, loads of tools and plenty of experience to do any of the projects.

I cannot praise this book highly enough - it is superb - I have only one critism - it does not tell you where to get the chemicals and supplies that it talks about.
