“The beneficent Doctor, saving everyone and everything – except those you don’t think worthy.”

Hooray, at last Volume 3 is out. I’ve been hanging out to read the final instalment of this great graphic novel series. The first two volumes really ramped up the interest of the reader, with each of the Doctors appearing, and having their own issue with companions disappearing. Who is behind it, and why? Well, now we’re about to find out. The third volume features the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctors.

This is great; there are old enemies, even older enemies (no hints), and just when you think there couldn’t be any more surprises – there are!

This is a great conclusion to a great three volume story arc; each of the stories is great on their own, but when you add them together to the storyline that threads through all of them and heads to a great reveal and conclusion, it’s really outstanding. The artwork is excellent in all chapters, and I really found the artwork in the final chapter, where a lot of characters needed to be represented, was excellent – very true to life. Totally recommended.

Really enjoyed this Doctor Who series. A fun adventure for all the Doctor's, it's a shame it wasn't tied into the 50th anniversary movie and included the John Hurt incarnation. A worthy read and consistent good if basic artwork throughout.

This review is from: Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time, Volume 3 (Paperback)
This is it - the final four issues previously released singly, now collected in the final volume of Doctor Who - Prisoners of Time. The Ninth Doctor is beautifully captured by the artist and works well with the script. The story also features Rose Tyler, who is captured by Drake Ayelbourne and his robot army. The story ties in with Van Statten's vault and the mystery kidnapper of the Doctor's companions. The next chapter features the Tenth Doctor and Martha, again both beautifully captured by the artist, and pitted against an old enemy from the Second Doctor's reign. An unexpected surprise! With the kidnap of Martha, the story leads into the final two chapters where we learn of a forgotten companion and the revelation of an old nemesis seeking revenge. Who can defeat this rogue? Well, it takes all the Doctors and the captured companions to foil this event and the graphic novel concludes with a selection of photographs and artwork. This concludes an excellent storyline, equally excellent artwork and the three volumes are worthy of reading over and over again... Now, where was the Time War Doctor...?
