4.0 out of 5 stars Good light reading
Well, I actually quite enjoyed this book. It is light reading, nothing too heavy. It is an easy read and written in quite a poetical way. It certainly isn't Shakespeare, but I didn't find it boring or badly written as some other reviewers seemed to.

I found that the characters were developed well and cared, as a reader, what happened to them. It's the kind of...

Laura Vincent is an ordinary young woman who works as a publicist. She leads a fairly unremarkable life until one day she is hired to accompany a famous opera singer Claudio Roman on one of his trips. Claudio Roman is a handsome man who has ladies falling at his feet. Sadly, one day he was blinded by some youths in a random attack. Laura is essentially hired to look after him...

Without going into further detail and giving away too much, I would like to say that this book could have been a good story despite the fact that it was utterly predictable from the start. Unfortunately, it is not well written. Character development is appalling. I couldn't call either Laura or Claudio even two dimensional as they both come across as really dull and boring. The quality of writing itself is quite poor as the author struggles to convey a great deal of feeling through any means other than introducing various song lyrics every now and then.

This book is like a cheap cross between Jane Eyre and the Fifty Shades Trilogy (the latter devoid of its "mummy porn" element).

I am giving it 2 stars because it had some potential, which, in the end, wasn't delivered because the story lacked imagination and had no meat on its bones. I never managed to feel anything for either Laura or Claudio and didn't particularly want their story to continue.

The wrap up of the story was simply appalling. It felt like the author just ran out of steam and had no idea what else she could possibly write, so quickly did a couple of pages for a swift conclusion.

I found that the characters were developed well and cared, as a reader, what happened to them. It's the kind of book that you can relax with and not get too lost in grand complex plots.

I enjoyed it and would recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring, predictable and no fun, 16 July 2013

I found this book to be very difficult to read, and did not really enjoy the experience at all.

The writting was poor, the characters well basic caractures and predictable and the story dull and unimaginative. I don't normallyu read Love stories, but this book had all the hallmarks of what I thought a bad love story would be. In the end I did not care for the characters or thier story, and I'm sorry to say that it has put me off reading in this genre for quite a while

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, old-hat., 20 Sep 2012

I really was disappointed by this book - many moons ago I used to read Mills & Boon novels and this seemed like a variant on one of their more popular themes. It was obvious each step of the way what the next step would be, and it was impossible for me to feel any real interest in the characters. The only saving grace was the happy ending!

a classic love story with sympathetic characters. The language is a cut above the usual romance, being quite poetic and atmospheric, so, well-written. It is a well executed tale but I did find the latter section of the book a little too cheesey and unrealistic. A touch more realism would have pleased me more but it was still a light and pleasant and entertaining read

This is a predictable, boring book and I wouldn't really call it a story. To be honest I couldn't get through to the end. I was really looking forward to reading this book as well. The blurb had me drawn in and as I am sure u also hate blurb that do not describe the book but the one that they want you to think they have got to make you buy the book. Misleading. Anyway writing was poor, story was poor in fact a poor effort all around. I would not bother.

These is a difficult book to put down, so don't read it in bed ! I don't want to give you the plot, as I really do not want to spoil a thoroughly good yarn. It is a book I would suggest you give you mother for her birthday or Christmas (she will probably need a box of tissues as well)!
Highly recommended by Ros Moore.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems fussily written. Okay once you get into it., 15 May 2014

This isn't a very comfortable read -possibly because it has been translated from French.
-It just doesn't seem to flow very easily or have momentum to the writing style.

Just looking at the shape the words make on some pages, it looks disjointed and the font doesn't help.

Still, there's a good plot and the story builds nicely. There could be more passion though ('juicy bits') and the conclusion isn't the best.

Physically, the pages are of a light pulp so the book is easy to carry around -not too heavy.

An OK read but no Shades of Grey.

This sounded like an interesting storyline but it doesn't quite live up to its potential. Laura is an ordinary girl who works as a publicist and finds herself working for a famous opera singer, Claudio, who has been blinded in an attack. Claudio has had a string of glamourous girl friends but finds himself connecting with Laura. The writing is quite good but the problem is it doesn't quite seem believable. Maybe something has been lost in the translation but this is an ok read that feels like it could have been more.
