Think Indiana Jones crossed with a bit of kung fu and mysticism, an african spider-god cult and some nazis. Thats the first volume of Five Ghosts in a nutshell. Oh and not forgetting some energy crystals buried in the chest of the main character, Fabian Grey. Aided by his good friend he sets off on a variey of quests in order to save the soul of a companion.
Thus in the adventure they come across spider-gods and a mystical city hidden somewhere in Asia. Due to the crystals buried in his chest, Fabian is able to call upon the powers of 5 ghosts. Detective, Samurai, Vampire and two more I can't quite remember. One may be an archer. Just as well as they are frequently needed to keep him out of trouble.
So a great pulp-esque adventure of thrills and spills but the real winner is the artwork. Blending together a mixture of early Klaus Janson, Bill Sienkiewicz, a wee touch of Tim Sale heavilly based upon Sal Buscema and you get the picture. A bargin at such a low price!
