This review is from: Hack/Slash: My First Maniac Volume 1 TP (Paperback)
The survivor of a movie killer maniac goes on the hunt for other movie style maniacs?! This is the film horror lovers would live to see, brought to life superbly in comic form! Superbly written, excellently drawn, I will be investing in the other books in this series

It's the perfect start for this comic book series.
Since I've never read any Hack/Slash comics I was a newwbie and I loved it.
Really good story, the drawings are sexy and gore, references from movies are noticeable.

At this price you can not refuse the opportunity to read a good comic. I can't want to read more from Cassie Hack.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid beginning, 7 Mar 2012
This review is from: Hack/Slash: My First Maniac Volume 1 TP (Paperback)
Having read the first two omnibuses, expectations were high for this prequel, I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed. Cassie Hack hunts 'slashers' or in other words, undying nutcases that terrorise teenagers as per Friday 13th etc etc. This graphic novel explains her motivations. It's interesting in that it's more a personal crusade, rather than her wanting to be a heroine and save lives, to rid the world of what her mother became, the original slasher that wrecked her life.
It's told from a first person point of view, thus we are privy to her innermost thoughts, that are at times disturbing and mixed up with her wanting to be a normal teenager.
There's an excellent twist at the end, which really tips her over from being an undecided, troubled teenager to a fully fledged slasher hunter, getting her to finally accept what she must become.
The art is superb and, be warned, graphically horrific. (It is a horror story after all)

There's a few classic dialogue gems, the best being to a school bully she's just put through the grinder (not literally), after letting herself be beaten up by her and her friends previously (read it to understand why),

"If you ever touch me again, I'll ******* kill you...and they will NEVER find your body."

Chilling stuff.
