If you find your relationships regularly flounder, or perhaps you seem trapped in the grave of a dead relationship, or maybe you feel the relationship you're in is collapsing, then this book might help. I say might because each situation is different and for some people this book might be inappropriate, however for others it may offer some insight in why we keep repeating the same patterns over and over again.

Spezzano offers a psychological approach coupled with a spiritual one, this may appeal to some and put others off, however he does qualify his theory by stating that "belief" in any definite entity is not a prerequisite to moving. On the more formal side he uses his own set of metaphores to describe different stages of a relationship and different types / roles that people tend to play out. E.g. The needy and the independent.

If you are going through a dark time and feel it's linked to the demise of a relationship then you may well feel a desperate need for help and understanding. This book is one of a few I'd recommend, (one of the others is Lerner's "The Dance of Anger"). I'd recommend this one because it does help the reader to tap in to their own sense of hope and ability to recover while simultaneously identifying some of the deep rooted self destructive patterns that can undermine us throughout life. For example one of the main themes of this book is that deep down we want to fail in order to get back at those (parents, society, God) who we feel hurt us or let us down. He sets the reader on a journey bound towards some kind of forgiveness and hope and for many that has to be a positive step.
