This is the first in the four part Kingdom Hearts manga, which retells the video game's story in manga form.
Kingdom Hearts is the story of Sora, a young boy who lives on an island with his friends and dreams of traveling to other worlds. One night, his wish comes true in a way he never imagined when his island is invaded by fiends, the Heartless, and he is swept away to a strange new place. In this new city, Traverse Town, he meets Donald and Goofy, who are searching for the missing King Mickey, as well as some of the characters from the Final Fantasy series. In hopes of finding his own missing friends, Sora joins Donald and Goofy as they prepare to travel to other worlds in search of clues. Part one concludes with the end of their adventure in the first world they visit, Wonderland.
I really loved the Kingdom Hearts game so I was looking forward to reading the manga when I learned about it. The art is very cute and it's a fun way to go through the story again without replaying a 30 hour game, especially with the Kingdom Hearts II game coming out soon. I'd recommend the manga to all Kingdom Hearts fans and I look forward to reading the other three volumes.

I am a great fan of Kingdom Hearts having completed the first one plenty of times and pre-ordering Kingdom Hearts 2. As soon as i saw this manga i thought, why not? And i was right to get it, if you are a lover of anime/manga and like Kingdom Hearts get this! The images are clear and very good emotions are used, some are funny ^^ A great collectors item (just buy the rest of the series as it is released as i have ^^) Buy it ^^ You wont regret it.

A Truly amazing and different way to look at the game, each book leaves you edging to read the next, interesting character designs and cool extras at the end of each book. One for the fans and a good way to go through the story without replaying the game.

Don't get me wrong I love the manga its great and a fun read, I also like how you see more of the `cameo' characters in the actually game, However, it seems like its slightly rushed, like a boss fight in the manga is about two pages long, and you see two worlds just in the first volume, its still very enjoyable but I still thought it could be lengthened, Defiantly worth getting for the four panel comics that start in volume two, amazing.

Keep it plastic, Devil Lad.

I hadn't played the game before I read this, but I got it because I love manga. The art is spectacular and the story is really good. The only downside is that this edition is flopped and so not in it's original Japanese format. But still, I really recommend this manga.

Although I am a fan of both Kingdom Hearts and manga, this manga adaptation of Kingdom Hearts didn't really thrill me. The layout, for one, is rather confusing, and the art, while good, is not really up to the standard I was expecting -- the characters seem quite different to how they were in the game. However it's a fun and easy way to catch up with the Kingdom Hearts storyline, and the cover art is stunning. I would recommend it to those who wish to know the KH storyline without playing the game, and to any really obsessed KH fan who must have all the merchandise, and perhaps to those who just enjoy manga, but it definitely is not as good as getting the game itself.
