Just wish to add my bits on this endearing series, along with the reviewer, "Ryoko".
The manga is so much better than the anime. Here in Reload 2, Sanzo and team finishes off their respective doppelganger, follow by a short sweet story on Jeep, which leads to a comical scene of the team going to the West on bicycles!
Then it is the beginning of the exciting story arc "Against the stream", which will extend to Reload 3.
Fans should be pleased that Manga Reload 6 is due for release in Japan end of this month after such a long wait. Saiyuki is not Minekura's only project and this talented lady does invest tremendous effort into her manga, both plots and of couse the lively artwork.
It was in 1996 that Saiyuki made its first appearance.
For anyone interested, Saiyuki Gaiden (Volume 1 and 2 manga books), which concentrate on the 4 protagonists' previous lifes 500 years ago, have just been released in Japan. These 2 volumes are brilliant. The fact that they are in Japanese should not deter any fan. The translation is available from the website developed by some kind souls. Still I wish Tokyopop will acquire the rights to Saiyuki Gaiden. The previous lifes of Sanzo/Konzen, Goku, Hakkai/Tenpou and Gojyo/Kenren are just as fascinating though poignant.
