Good book if you work with metal clay, I ordered the book because the description gave the impression that it was a mixed media book. While this is technically true , there is very little for working with silver and other metals apart from wirework and metal clay.
The title and advertising gave the impression it would be a book relating to designing jewellery which is what I had expected, sadly that is not the case. However it is a nice book and good if metal clay and beads are your speciality.

I so wish I'd discovered Kate McKinnon before I took a single metal clay class. Several classes and a certification course later, I've sent most of my class pieces of fine silver for scrap and am seriously considering putting all my other metal clay books ( I have a LOT!) back on Amazon. Why? Because with Kate McKinnon, you get the full workshop. In The Jewelry Architect, Kate provides everything you need to be able to create not only the projects as illustrated, but an unlimited resource of ideas once you 'see' metal clay and beads from Kate's unique perspective. You'll be bursting with your own design ideas from the outset.
I am not a beader. Well, I wasn't until I opened this book. I am now. Even if you don't work with metal clay, I recommend you at least see a copy. And, don't forget the fabulous instructional DVD at the back - a personal guide and step by step demonstrations. It is just like taking one of Kate's excellent workshops. I cannot recommend this book enough! I recommend it as a partner to Sculptural Metal Clay Sculptural Metal Clay Jewelry
