This is the last volume of Saiyuki (contined in Saiyuki Reload) and doesn't disappoint! You might think that Minekura's ability to turn out perfect volume after perfect volume might eventually falter, but it never does. This one is just as exciting as the rest, the whole book focusing on the showdown between the Sanzo-ikkou and Kami-sama. The artwork is fnatastic, there are moments of laugh-out-loud humour and real emotion, it keeps you hooked, you can feast your eyes on the bishounen and, in this volume, the plot reeeeeally gets interesting. And I mean really. Without giving spoilers I'll just say that you learn something MAJOR in this volume that made me scream. Now I'm dying to know what happens next! This is a brilliant end to the first leg of the Saiyuki saga. A must-have!

A wonderfully climatic yet open ended manga to finish the first series and get ready for SAIYUKI RELOAD. Granted, the four characters don't seem to have evolved too much nor gotten much closer to their goal; but that's what everyone loves about them!
it offers just what Saiyuki fans want, just like the other volumes; its full of fighting, comedy and beautiful artwork. A great read and one of my favourite mangas - i expect that Saiyuki Reload will be just as fantastic! if you haven't read Saiyuki, then DO IT! :) if you're anything like me, you'll fall in love with the characters purely because they are so dam cool!

I must say when my younger sister started buying this series of manga's I can't say I was keen. But I read them to make her happy. I was glad I did. The characters are deeply flawed, they smoke drink and kill, and have their own obsessions. My Favourite Character Sha Gojyo's obsession is Women, women and more women.
A wonderful series worth a read.
