This was my son's favourite Christmas present (he is 11 years old). He has progressed on to technical lego and loves to create his own vehicles/robots etc but has often been stuck for creative inspiration. This is the ideal book! Instructions are clearly set out and easy to follow. He does have a large amount of technical lego, which I think helps for some of the constructions. Overall, a fabulous book for all ages who like lego!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not perfect, 31 May 2011
This review is from: The LEGO Technic Idea Book: Fantastic Contraptions: 3 (Paperback)
I bought this book for my ten year old son, who is a Lego nut. He loves it, and the designs have inspired him to create some really cool things. I would really have expected more of a step by step approach in the book, but maybe that's just me.

My son seems to find the illustrations of the finished articles enough to get him going with a new idea, and the colour pictures using multi-coloured Lego pieces seem to work just fine for him. Maybe I'm getting old! I guess the ultimate accolade is that he is saving his pocket money up for the other books in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars The book is very good but probably a bit complicated for younger users, 12 Jan. 2015

The book is very good but probably a bit complicated for younger users. There is no step by step guide to build any of the constructions, you just have to look at the pictures from different angles and try to replicate it. Not the easiest.

Great book for someone new to Technic with lots of tips and tricks. Many concepts and theories behind building MOCs are explained through this book.
