5.0 out of 5 stars Words ... and pictures, 7 April 2010

This review is from: Developing Game Intelligence in Soccer (Paperback)
A very good book, breaking down the player development into some interesting parts, but always centred on groups of players.
The pictures look very simplistic, but get the point across very well, and as you read into the variations of the drill it's surprising the depth that is developed.

So if you are looking to move on from individual skills and on to off the ball awareness and movement, this could be what you are looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teacher who can't wait to manage the school team, 22 Jan 2012
This review is from: Developing Game Intelligence in Soccer (Paperback)
Me...... Previously a decent center half for school / pub teams. Good at reading the game from the back but never had much creativity or the ability to create chances.

I have flicked through this along with..... 'The Complete Guide to Coaching Soccer Systems and Tactics by Jacob Daniel'. I now have a far better understanding of penetration, making runs, creating space, pressing, depth, width, etc and great drills to coach these things with logical explanations as to why you are practicing them.

Thanks to these 2 books I have now have far more passion for watching/analyzing the sport.

P.s Since reading these 2 titles, I am on an unbeaten run of 9 games on xbox live fifa 12 - impossible prior to reading!!!
