5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 5 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Coaching Soccer: Match Strategy and Tactics (Paperback)
These coaching books written by Italian coaches are the most indepth and by far the best. This particular book has an excellent translation (some of the other books are poorly written in English) and offers excellent advice on dealing with your opponent and for in-game tactical advice on how to shape and try to change the look of a game depending on what is happening.

The only problem is you'll have to read and digest away from the pitch cos you'll look a bit silly on the touchline looking up in a book what to do when your team is winning 1-0, ten minutes to go, you have just had a man sent off and its pouring with rain....! Trust me the book will offer advice on how to attempt to handle such a situation.

Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good advice to coach a team in a competitive league, 12 Feb. 2012
First few chapters are really good where it analyses the opponent (technically, tactically and psyclogically). It looks at zonal and man marking defence- how to execute and how to deal with them. Different attacking combinations, how to use the offside tactic and how to beat it... and they all come with explanation and diagrams.
The good thing about the book is when it talks about a paticular topic it puts you on both sides of the scenario (eg: defending team and attacking team)and gives you the solution.
Last part of the book is about giving tips for you to get your team ready for a match, like some drills and advice on how to cope with different situations that occurs over the course of the game(pre, post match and half time talks...)

All in all I found it a good book at grassroot level. First half of the book is good for all type of coaches but second part is really good for young coaches.
