I have read a lot of books on understanding men and when I was first recommended this one I admit I wasn't expecting it to be anything new. However I found it really easy to read and REALLY insightful bringing out different things than I've heard before.
The book is actually based on a survey that the author conducted across the board of christian and non christian guys in all different walks of life asking them different questions and found that the majority answered the same way - to her surprise. Some of the results of the surveys are included in the book to back up things that are said. It's really interesting for example how it says that for men to feel respected is REALLY important to them but for women on the same level is the need to feel loved. Explaining why often in a discussion mens response will be to get angry if they're feeling their opinion isnt respected and the women will end in tears because she isn't feeling loved.
Theres so much more in this book - it's really practical and insightful. It brings up things I think we just havent even realised that we think differently on as men and women cos it's the kind of things you wouldn't even ask or talk about based on assumption and programmed way of thinking so it's assumed the opposite sex thinks the same - but no!
I'm definitely buying my own copy of this one as theres so much in it that I want to be able to refer to.
I couldn't recommend it more highly, if it's the only one you ever read on men it'll sure make a difference!

This is an awesome book which delves into the insights of what men truly feel and think about regarding a number of varied aspects of life.
Without losing it's human touch this book reveals some very interesting survey results that I would never have guessed before. Including the importance of your man having and being shown respect by you as his partner. Coming from a women's perspective, I always considered love one of the most important elements in a relationship. I discovered this is not necessarily true for men. Survey says...Respect is what tops their list. Neither of these elements are better or worse than the other, just different as they reflect how men and women are different.

Two awesome books both touching upon relating are called "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" and "How To Create A Magical Relationship" written by Ariel and Shya Kane. The Kanes present new possibilities in how to relate to your partner that can create and sustain magical relationships. Disharmony is replaced by ease, fun and satisfaction. All of these books are insightful and potent in presenting new ways of having the best relationship with your partner and others in your life.

I have read alot on relationships, even done courses on marriage, but this was on a totally different level. Down to earth, easy to read, FUNDAMENTALS about the man in your life. I really can't express highly enough what this book has done to help me - and I thought I knew it all! The government should issue this (and the For Men Only sister book)with a marriage licence!!

I am so thankful that Shaunti Feldhahn did the foot work, investigating the inner lives of men. I had often wondered why the communication in certain areas of my relationship would break down. This book clears up many misunderstandings that I have had with my relationship. I always knew that women and men were "wired" a little differently, and Shaunti Feldhahn's discoveries bring clarity to these mysteries and celebrate our differences. Other books that have made an immeasurable difference with my relationship is Ariel & Shya Kane's How to Create a Magical Relationship: The 3 Simple Ideas that Will Instantaneously Transform Your Love Life,Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: The 3 Simple Ideas That Will Instantaneously Transform Your Life and Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. I am more in love with my husband and I am more present in my life than ever before. Relating with ease is truly possible. Check it out!

First things first, yes, I am male. I read the book that goes alongside this one for men, 'for men only', and as this was lying around has a sneak peak at it too.

All I can say is that if you want to truly understand your husband, or to re-invigorate your marriage, then this is a must read. It provides insights into 'why does he do that?' and probably more importantly 'why doesn't he do that?'.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

One of the best relationship books I've ever seen or read! I bought this for my fianceé and the "For Men Only" book for myself to read in the run up to getting married and it really has helped us gain a better and deeper understanding of each others minds and the way we both "tick". I never really thought these kinds of books were relevant or could be accurate for all couples, but it is surprising accurate of the way men and women work and think.

Highly recommended to anyone getting married, already married or in serious relationship. I think actually, I would recommend it to single people too - knowing how women think about the things men do is a real eye opener!

Love this book! Always have had a fascination with men and how they function. I have come to know over the years that the needs of men and women are completely the reverse and so different. What we say often gets lost in translation to our original intentions, and how they act sometimes gets lost in translation to what they really mean. Men have respect at the top of their list and women have love at the top of theirs but somehow we must navigate through that to communicate and understand one another.

Insightful, real and soooo relevant. This goes a little deeper than another one of my faves, "love and respect" by Dr Emerson Eggerichs as it is based primarily on extensive research through the surveying of approximately 1000 men from all walks of life.

A book not just for those married or with partners but also those who are wanting to be become a well informed woman (and in some ways make their lives a little easier before that time comes) even whilst single.

Read this book within a few days, a record time for me ;-) No doubt this will also be a book I revisit at least once a year similarly to Love & Respect.

Bought this for a friend, I liked it so much. Even after decades of marriage, I would recommend this easy read for women at all stages in their relationships. An enjoyable read that you could pick up again from time to time for assurance and Christian support in your relationships. It deals with relationships with all the men in your life, so you can apply it to your son, dad, brother etc. Sensibly priced, I purchased this one for my friend in the used books section. Good quality as described. Definitely buy it :)

So glad to have stumbled across this book and the adjoining one 'for men only'. Very accessible read, focussing on 7 key areas, and the only book of its type that my fiancé (who is generally anti any sort of book based on relationships or personality) has actually read, related to and quoted from. Really glad to have got hold of this before getting married later this year!
