This book explains the ritual of celebrating the birth of a mother, from a traditional perspective. The Blessingway is a ceremony where the important women in the pregnant woman's life all come togther to celebrate her becoming a mother. The book gives examples and ideas of how to structure a Blessingway and also ideas for rituals that can be incorporated. The book touches on Native American Traditions and the significance of certain directions and animals etc, but without a really good explaination of such things. This makes me question if inclusion of these aspects make the book not enough for some and too complicated for others. Overall, a very useful book to stimulate ideas but very much to be used as a 'springboard' rather than a 'bible'.
One thing that i thought was missing was a reader friendly chapter on the significance of the Blessingway ritual across different cultures and how they vary in tradition around the world.
