Cisco as most people buying these books know, they have overhauled the CCNP reducing the amount of exams needed to pass and become a CCNP, however this has not made the exam or the value of the CCNP less in truth be told , yes it's less exams but more content based. the CCNP now is designed to be the pre-cursor of the CCIE preparing you for a lot of higher level concepts, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. This foundation guide and if you will pardon the expression does what it says on the box. covers all aspects needed in preparing to pass 642-813 on route to CCNP & CCDP. I've been asked as a mature student where does the CCNP level in with academic understanding in the UK Switch is given in degree courses as Third Year B.SC or B.Eng. so you have to have a lot of understanding. as for the ROW i expect it would be similar.
The book is well written, easy to follow with many tips, hits and guides to getting the most from the book, couple this with either Virtual Labs or your own home lab you'll be well on your way to passing.

This book came as part of the Networking Academy course that I'm enrolled on and I must say that this book is awful! People giving this book 5 stars are being dishonest and are not being helpful to people who are trying to prepare for their CCNP SWITCH exams. Not only is the information jumbled and all over the place, there are a ridiculous amount of errors and sometimes it left me wondering if the author(s) even have a good grasp of English! I can't believe anyone proofread this before going to print - no seriously if any of you read this book, you'll be flabbergasted! Whole paragraphs are repeated in certain sections! CCNP Switch Simplified is 10x the book this is - the only thing it is missing is Multicast, but I would suggest that you get them from the free Catalyst 3560 Configuration guide on the Cisco website. My advice is STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK it is utter garbage. You've been warned.
